Having the correct nitrogen to foliar feed

Polymer urea as a foliar feed: proceed with caution

I have seen one or two trials recently where people have used a polymer urea as a foliar feed. I feel this is a complete disaster waiting to happen and was not surprised to see poor results! When polymers are used on the leaf they can sit around and clog up stomata if they are the wrong type of polymer.  They can be very slow on uptake and not have the appropriate effect to maximise yield potential of the growing plant. The inappropriate polymers can reduce light capture and waste plant energy where it could be used elsewhere, clogging up the cuticle on the leaf, hence having an adverse effect on the plant. Yet I am not averse to using polymers, since some can be used in a positive manner.
